Certified nurse-midwives view pregnancy and birth as a normal experience. Prenatal appointments will typically be longer with more time available for you to discuss your pregnancy and build your confidence about labor and birth. Also during labor and birth your certified nurse-midwife will be able to spend more time with you and your family and provide personalized support.
Certified nurse-midwives are fully qualified to prescribe and administer medications. They offer patients a wide range of pain management options.
During an uncomplicated birth, your certified nurse -midwife will deliver your baby. Certified nurse-midwives work closely with an obstetrician and with the other members of your labor and delivery team. If a cesarean section is required, the obstetrician will deliver your baby.
