Nursing Clinical Experiences (C.M.A., L.P.N., R.N.)
All academic nursing programs require their students to apply principles, concepts, and critical thinking skills learned in the classroom in an acute care and/or clinic setting. Clinical experiences in the health care setting are an integral part of the nursing education process and Immanuel St. Joseph's - Mayo Health System is pleased to support these experiences. Immanuel St. Joseph's - Mayo Health System has agreements with many academic institutions and encourages faculty, clinical instructors and/or students that are interested in Immanuel St. Joseph's - Mayo Health System to fill out the Undergraduate/Graduate Nursing Clinical Experience Request Form. This form is required in order to initiate the nursing student clinical process. Most non-nursing clinical academic programs require their students to apply principles, concepts, and critical thinking skills learned in the classroom in an acute care and/or clinic setting. These programs may include Surgical Technicians, Paramedics, Athletic Training, Emergency Medical Technicians, etc. Clinical experiences in the health care setting are an integral part of the education process and Immanuel St. Joseph's - Mayo Health System is pleased to support these experiences. Immanuel St. Joseph's - Mayo Health System has agreements with many academic institutions and encourages faculty, clinical instructors and/or students to fill out the Additional Clinical Experience Request Form. This form is required in order to initiate the student clinical process. In general, internships are of longer duration (e.g., one semester or longer) when compared to an externship or job shadow and often support an organization in its job functions. In addition, internships are needed to obtain academic credit and may be paid. Immanuel St. Joseph's offers internships on a competitive basis as a limited number of opportunities are available. Immanuel St. Joseph's - Mayo Health System has agreements with many academic institutions and encourages faculty, clinical instructors and/or students that are interested in Immanuel St. Joseph's - Mayo Health System to fill out the Internship Experience Request Form. This form is required in order to initiate the student internship process. Job shadowing allows you to explore careers that may interest you whether you are in high school, college, or thinking about changing careers. Job shadowing allows you to gain valuable insight into a specific career and may facilitate the career decision-making process. Job shadows are observation only and unpaid.
