Nursing Orientation

 

Overview
The program offers education for the necessary skills to maintain the high quality of care that ISJ Regional Medical Center consistently strives to provide. New employees can expect many opportunities for professional growth. 

Orientation
New employees will attend 1.5 days of general orientation followed by 6.5 days of central nursing orientation. Some topics covered in central orientation include:

  • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Patient Centered Care
  • Safety/Infection Control
  • Professional Nursing
  • Pain Management
  • Care of the General-Medical Patient
  • Care of the General-Surgical Patient
  • Skills Day
Unit Orientation
After completion of Central Nursing Orientation, new employees begin unit orientation with an assigned preceptor. Each unit has a Practice and Professional Clinician that assists with unit needs. The length of unit orientation varies depending on the nursing unit and the level of experience of the new employee.
