Tony Hebert Compassionate Children's FundThe Tony Hebert Compassionate Children's Fund was established through a generous donation by Laurie and Bob Hebert, parents of fallen soldier, Spc. Anthony "Tony" Hebert on June 30, 2008, marking what would have been Tony's 21st birthday. Tony Hebert, a 2005 Lincoln High School graduate, was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq on June 21, 2007 at the age of 19. The fund will help with urgent and emergency needs for children 19 and younger who are in need of assistance. The Hebert family plan to make annual contributions to the fund. Additional donations to this fund will increase assistance to children and the families of those children in their time of need. Project PinkThe Project Pink initiative focuses on three critical needs: breast cancer awareness, education for at-risk, underserved, minority and uninsured or underinsured women, and securing financial support to purchase a digital mammography machine. Through a $100,000 grant from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Lake City Medical Center has secured one-third of the dollars needed for this project. Donations are vital to the success of this project.
The Dr. Stephen E. Dudley Memorial ScholarshipThe Stephen Dudley Scholarship Fund was established in 1986 to serve as an ongoing remembrance of Dr. Steve Dudley and the sincere and generous medical care he gave so freely to the Lake City community before his sudden death in a car accident in November of 1986. This scholarship was designed to recognize a student who demonstrated high academic achievement and had a career interest in medicine or another professional health career. Although it has been over 20 years since the community suffered this great loss we still remember the great man this was created to honor. Fundraising efforts began in 2006 to expand this scholarship award and create an endowment so it will remain in perpetuity. A gift to the scholarship fund will touch many students who will become our future caregivers.
