Auxiliary Donates for the Replacement of the Call Light System
On behalf of the Lake City Medical Center – Mayo Health System (LCMC) Auxiliary, Mary Jean Oliver, Auxiliary president, recently presented a $2,500 check to Scott Kallstrom, administrator of Lake City Nursing Home, part of LCMC. The donation will be used towards the purchase of a new call light system for the nursing home.
The current call light system, installed in 1978, alerts only staff members who are in proximity of the call light by emitting a loud alarm sound. The sound often disturbs residents. The new, wireless call light system will alert all nursing staff in the building by sending signals to pagers, thus eliminating the alarm noise. In addition, the page will include the exact information of where help is needed and record how long it takes staff to respond. Kallstrom says all of the new features will improve service, quality and safety. The goal is to raise all of the funds needed for the new call light system in the coming months so it can be purchased by the end of the year.
