Scenes from the 2009 Thanksgiving Reception

On November 22 the Foundation hosted its sixth annual Thanksgiving Reception in the Center for Advanced Medicine and Surgery in La Crosse. The event provides an opportunity for the Foundation to express its appreciation to those individuals and organizations who make its healing mission possible.
During the reception, Dr. David and Sacia Morris were announced as the 2009 recipients of the Spheres of Influence Award. The award has been presented annually since 1983, and recognizes those who have generously supported the work of Franciscan Skemp Foundation and Franciscan Skemp Healthcare.
In the words of Foundation Executive Director, Peter Grabow, who presented the award: “Dr. David and Sacia Morris are tremendously loyal friends of Franciscan Skemp Foundation, not only as generous contributors but as active participants in our gatherings and events. The depth and breadth of their involvement with our organization is indeed exemplary – and yet, it is but one part of their benevolence. To fully appreciate the entire sphere of their philanthropic influence one must scan a broad a horizon, for David and Sacia Morris, through their giving of themselves and their resources, have had a substantial influence on many organizations in our community and beyond.”
As recipients of the Spheres of Influence Award, David and Sacia join the ranks of Charley and Marikaye Robers, Marjorie Reinhart, Fr. Robert Cook, Robert and Frances Skemp, the late Robert B. Franke and many other distinguished recipients of the award over the past 26 years.
Over 200 people were present at the Thanksgiving Reception which included a fabulous food buffet prepared by our own Franciscan Skemp nutrition services staff. Our thanks to all who attended, and to David and Sacia for allowing us the honor and pleasure of recognizing their extraordinary contributions to Franciscan Skemp.
